What to expect at your First Appointment
Your First Visit
Before Your Visit
When you book an appointment at The Lady Basset Physiotherapy Centre (LBPC), you will receive a confirmation email with the details of your appointment, along with two important forms: the Patient Consent Form and the New Patient Intake Form. We kindly ask that you complete these forms online prior to your visit. This allows us to focus your initial assessment entirely on your care, rather than on completing paperwork.
How to Find Us
We look forward to welcoming you to Lady Basset Physiotherapy Centre! Our clinic is located in the heart of Pool, Cornwall, making it easy to reach whether you're driving, taking public transport, or walking. You’ll find us located between Trevenson Church and Pool Academy.

Arriving at the Centre
We offer free on-site parking for all our patients. When you arrive, you’ll find the car park located at the front of the Lady Basset building. To access the clinic, please enter through the door on the left hand side, located next to the raised flower bed. If you have an appointment during our evening clinic hours, you may find that this door is locked. In such cases, please use the intercom system positioned beside the door, and your therapist will promptly buzz you in.
Our receptionists at The LBPC are virtual, so there will not be a receptionist on-site when you arrive. After entering the clinic, simply take a seat in our comfortable waiting room. Your therapist will come to greet you and guide you to your session at your scheduled appointment time.
We recommend arriving at the clinic at least 10 minutes before your appointment. This will give you ample time to settle in and ensure that your session starts promptly.
What to Wear
For your physiotherapy appointment, it's important to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and gives your physiotherapist easy access to the area being treated. Here are some tips:
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing: Opt for items like shorts, leggings, or sweatpants and a t-shirt or tank top. This allows you to move easily during exercises and assessments.
Wear or bring appropriate footwear: Depending on your treatment, supportive trainers may be recommended, especially if you’ll be walking or performing balance exercises.
Specific areas of treatment: If your appointment focuses on a particular area of your body (e.g., your knee, shoulder, or back), consider wearing or bringing clothing that makes it easier for the therapist to assess and treat that area. For example:
-
For knee or leg issues: Wear or bring shorts.
-
For shoulder or arm issues: A tank top or a sleeveless shirt works well.
-
For back or neck issues: Wear a loose top that can easily be adjusted or lifted.
Feel free to ask the centre if you’re unsure—your physiotherapist will ensure you’re comfortable throughout the session.
What to Bring
When heading to your appointment, it’s a good idea to bring the following items to ensure a smooth and productive visit:
Referral or Medical Documents
If you were referred by a doctor or specialist, bring any referral letters, medical notes, or imaging reports (X-rays, MRIs, etc.) that may be relevant to your condition.
Health Insurance Information
If your physiotherapy is covered by insurance, bring your insurance card or relevant details, especially if this is your first visit.
List of Medications
If you’re currently taking any medications, it can be helpful to bring a list, especially if they relate to your condition or injury.
Personal ID
For identification purposes, especially on your first visit, bringing a form of ID might be required.
Payment Method
If you’re responsible for covering part of the treatment, bring your preferred payment method (cash, card, etc.).
Having these items with you will help your appointment run smoothly and allow your physiotherapist to give you the best care possible.
Our team is dedicated to helping you move better, feel better, and live better. We look forward to welcoming you and guiding you on your journey to recovery!
