Benefits of Home Visits

What we offer

What will happen at your appointment?

At The LBPC, we understand that mobility and independence can be challenging for many individuals. That's why we’ve made it our mission to bring physiotherapy to you, in the comfort and convenience of your own home. For some people, the type of physiotherapy they need is simply not possible at The LBPC.

There are numerous reasons why it may not be feasible or practical to visit our clinic, or why physiotherapy may be more appropriate in your own home or care environment.

Home Visit Physiotherapy, also known as Domiciliary Physiotherapy, is a cornerstone of patient-centred care, offering a host of advantages that can be more beneficial than conventional clinic-based treatments for certain clients. Our specialised Community Physiotherapy and Elderly Care Physiotherapy services are designed to meet these unique needs. The LBPC has a highly trained and experienced physiotherapist dedicated to providing exceptional home care.

With our home visit service, you can receive high-quality physiotherapy without the stress of traveling. Our skilled physiotherapist will come directly to your home, respite care, residential, or nursing home to work with you in developing a tailored treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals. This personalised approach ensures that your therapy is both effective and convenient, allowing you to focus on your recovery in a familiar and supportive environment.

Your First Home Visit

When your physiotherapist arrives, they will:

  • Take a detailed history of your condition.

  • Conduct a physical assessment, which may include evaluating joint ranges, muscle tone, sensation, balance, strength, and functional tasks.

  • Discuss the findings with you, along with treatment options and their likely outcomes.

  • Set goals together for your treatment, including timelines, session durations, and frequency.

  • Request your permission to contact your GP or consultant if needed, to ensure we provide the best care possible.

Follow-Up Sessions

Follow-up visits will be tailored to the plan we create together. These may include:

  • Active and/or Passive Exercise Programs: Customised exercises to help you achieve your rehabilitation goals.

  • Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques to improve your mobility and function.

  • Mobility Practice: Exercises to enhance your ability to move safely and effectively.

As we progress, we’ll discuss any equipment you might need. We encourage you to take an active part in your treatment and rehabilitation program. After each session, your physiotherapist will give you exercises to work on until we meet again.
